In Beijing, Pakistan’s Minister for Culture, Tourism and Heritage, Huzaifa Rehman, met with China’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, Gao Zheng, to advance cultural diplomacy and tourism cooperation. The two reaffirmed their commitment to preserving shared heritage and strengthening bilateral ties through joint initiatives, including heritage site restoration, museum collaboration, cultural exchanges, and tourism promotion. Minister Rehman expressed deep gratitude for China’s friendship and accepted an invitation to the upcoming International Museum Conference in China. The meeting marked a significant step toward a long-term cultural partnership between the two countries.

During the meeting, the two leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening bilateral ties through cultural collaboration and the preservation of common heritage.

Minister Rehman expressed profound gratitude for China’s longstanding friendship, describing the relationship as “deeper than the ocean, higher than mountains, and sweeter than honey.”

Several key initiatives were agreed upon:

Heritage Site Restoration: Launching joint projects to restore, preserve, and digitally document historical landmarks in both countries.

Museums and Cultural Exchanges: Enhancing museum development partnerships, along with organizing cultural delegations, art exhibitions, and film festivals.

Training and Capacity Building: Implementing training programs in museology and professional development for museum staff.

Tourism Promotion: Rolling out collaborative tourism campaigns and policy initiatives to encourage travel and cultural exploration.

Minister Gao Zheng extended a formal invitation to Minister Rehman to participate in the International Museum Conference scheduled in China this September, which Minister Rehman accepted with appreciation.

In closing, Minister Rehman conveyed heartfelt thanks to President Xi Jinping and the Chinese government for their consistent support and close cooperation with Pakistan, especially in cultural and tourism spheres.
